PeriFast/Dynamics: A MATLAB Code for Explicit Fast Convolution-based Peridynamic Analysis of Deformation and Fracture

We present PeriFast/Dynamics, a compact and user-friendly MATLAB code for fast peridynamic (PD) simulations deformation fracture. PeriFast/Dynamics uses the convolution-based method (FCBM) spatial discretization an explicit time marching scheme to solve large-scale dynamic fracture problems. Different from existing PD solvers, does not require neighbor search storage, due use of Fast-Fourier transform its inverse compute integral operator. Run-times memory allocation are independent number neighbors inside horizon, leading faster computations lower storage requirements. The governing equations briefly reviewed, structure explained, individual modules described in detail. A demonstrative example on brittle 3D, with multiple crack branching events, is solved using three different constitutive models: bond-based, ordinary state-based, correspondence model. small differences between results models explained. Users provided step-by-step description problem setup execution code. branch PeriFast suite codes, available download at GitHub link reference [1].
